# Find Suppliers on the Map, Ranked by AI

> See your suppliers on a map, describe what you need and let AI rank the best matches, filter by category and rating, and find new suppliers nearby from Google Maps and the Streckenheld network.

Most construction companies buy from a few dozen suppliers, and a few hundred more sit in the address book. When the next site needs ready-mix concrete or gravel, the question is the same every time: who is close, who has the right products, and who has been reliable before? Streckenheld answers it on one page: your suppliers in a list and on a map, ranked by AI from a plain description, and new suppliers in the area when your own aren't enough.

## Key features

- **List and map view** of all your suppliers, with type, rating, trades, product categories and contact person
- **AI ranking from a description**: write what you need, like "reliable concrete supplier near Heilbronn", and the best matches move to the top
- **Filters** for type, trades, product categories, tags and rating, the same in both views
- **Find new suppliers** on Google Maps and in the Streckenheld network, searched in the area the map shows
- **Save as lead** in one click, with the supplier type already filled in
- **Already yours** marked, so you never add a supplier twice

## Your suppliers on the map

Switch the Suppliers page from list to map and every supplier appears as a pin, located from its saved address. The list next to the map shows the suppliers in the visible area with their rating and town; hover a row to find its pin, click a pin to open a card with type, rating, address, contact person, email and product categories, and go to the supplier from there. Move or zoom the map and the list follows the area you look at.

## Describe what you need, AI ranks the matches

Under the search box sits a second field: "What are you looking for?". Write a sentence the way you would say it to a colleague, like "reliable concrete supplier near Heilbronn" or "roofer with good ratings for flat roofs". A moment after you stop typing, the AI compares your suppliers with the description and gives each one a badge: Strong, Good, Partial or Weak match. Hover a badge to see the estimate in percent.

Nothing is hidden. The best matches move to the top of the list, the table gets an AI match column to sort by, and the map colours each pin by how well it matches: green for strong, light green for good, amber for partial, grey for weak. When the description mentions a place or a quality, the AI weighs the supplier's address or rating accordingly.

## Filters for both views

Narrow the suppliers by type (retailer, manufacturer, subcontractor), trades, product categories, tags and star rating, including suppliers not rated yet. Within one filter any ticked value counts, across filters all of them apply, and "Clear filters" resets everything. The filters work in the list and on the map, and the AI ranking only compares the suppliers they let through.

## Find new suppliers nearby

Sometimes your own suppliers aren't enough: a new region, a material you rarely buy, a supplier who is fully booked. Switch to "Find new suppliers", move the map to the area of your site and search for a trade or product, like "concrete plant" or "gravel pit". Streckenheld searches two sources in the visible area:

- **Google Maps**, with the Google rating, number of reviews, address, phone and website
- **The Streckenheld network**: suppliers other construction companies on Streckenheld already work with in that area, marked "Streckenheld Network", and with the number of companies once three or more work with it

Results that are already your suppliers or leads are marked as such. Sort by best match, nearest or best rated, set a minimum Google rating, and after moving the map, "Search this area" runs the search again for the new area.

## Save new suppliers as leads

Click a result to open its card and choose "Add as lead". The supplier type is already filled in (from the network, or estimated by AI from the Google listing) and can be changed before saving. The lead is saved with its location, website and phone and appears in your list with a "Lead" badge.

Leads are kept apart from your suppliers: they don't show up in quote requests, document matching or the AI assistant until you work with them. Use "Make supplier" when you are ready, or simply place an order, sign a contract or accept an offer from them, and they become a supplier by themselves.

## How it works

1. **Open Suppliers** under Administration & Master Data and switch to the map.
2. **Describe what you need** in the AI field; the best matches move to the top and are coloured on the map.
3. **Narrow down** with the filters for category, rating and more.
4. **Find new suppliers** for the area of your site when your own aren't enough.
5. **Save the right ones as leads** and send them your next [quote request](https://www.streckenheld.com/guides/quote-requests.md).

## Who it's for

- **Purchasing**, finding the right supplier for a material or region in seconds instead of searching the address book
- **Estimators**, who need prices from suppliers close to a site they are bidding for
- **Site managers**, looking for a supplier near the site when the usual one can't deliver

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the AI search hide suppliers that don't match?

No. It only sorts. Every supplier gets a badge (Strong, Good, Partial or Weak match) and the best matches move to the top of the list and get the strongest colours on the map. Weaker matches stay further down. Up to 60 suppliers are compared per search; if you have more, narrow the list with the filters first and the rest are included.

### Where do the new suppliers come from?

From two sources, searched in the area the map shows: Google Maps, and the Streckenheld network, meaning suppliers other construction companies on Streckenheld already work with in that area. From the network only the business itself is shown (name, location, type, trades and categories), never contact persons, prices, notes or which company works with it.

### Why is one of my suppliers missing from the map?

The map places suppliers by the address saved on them. A supplier without an address, or with an address that can't be found, is counted under the map instead of shown on it. Add or correct the address and it appears the next time you open the map.

### What is a lead, and when does it become a supplier?

A lead is a company you saved from the search but don't buy from yet. Leads are marked in the list and on the map and stay out of quote requests, document matching and the AI assistant. "Make supplier" turns a lead into a supplier, and it also becomes one by itself as soon as you work with it, for example through an order, a contract or an accepted offer.
