Comstruct alternatives: 3 options compared (2026)

Comstruct alternatives compared: Streckenheld, Cathago and Vestigas on tendering, ordering, delivery notes, invoice checks and payment approval.

Comstruct uses AI agents to automate procurement for large construction companies, from the bill of quantities to the checked invoice. The companies looking for alternatives usually also want to check order confirmations and approve payments, want their own checking rules to be set up transparently, or are smaller than Comstruct's typical reference customers. This article sets Comstruct and three alternatives side by side.

Disclosure: This comparison is published by Streckenheld. Information about other providers comes from their public websites (as of October 2026) and may have changed since. If you spot an error or an update, please let us know at hello@streckenheld.com.

Comstruct at a glance

Comstruct describes itself as "AI agents for construction": it "automates your entire procurement process, from the Bill of Quantities to the fully matched invoice", "so site teams can focus on building." Its German manifesto puts the idea in one line: "Der Materialfluss wird zum Datenfluss" (the flow of materials becomes a flow of data). The website sums up the offer as five modules forming one data strand from the BoQ to the document.

Its customers are large general contractors and infrastructure companies, including HOCHTIEF, Implenia, Marti and Leonhard Weiss according to its website. Comstruct started in Switzerland; according to 2025 press reports, it is expanding into Germany, Austria and other European markets.

The five modules:

  • Tender: "From Bill of Quantities (BoQ) to structured enquiry in seconds". Items are grouped by material category and sent to suitable suppliers.
  • Bid comparison: offers are evaluated regardless of price format and compared line by line. The website also mentions 'automatic renegotiation'; how it works is not explained.
  • Framework contracts and call-offs: call-offs "directly from the construction site, with a clear approval chain."
  • Delivery notes: paper, PDF, EDI or photo. Every delivery ticket is digitised, checked and assigned to the appropriate framework agreement, GoBD-compliant.
  • Invoice check: AI extraction, master data, quantity and price checks with automatic account assignment, matched against the BoQ, framework contract and delivery note. The website adds: "your rules remain with you."

Comstruct also provides ESG data: consumption, savings and CO₂ figures, EPDs per material and project, and reporting in Power BI.

A key strength is the continuous data line from BoQ to invoice, which at Comstruct already starts with the tender. The integration list covers RIB, Abacus, Sorba, BRZ, ABBF Baubit, SAP, Power BI, SharePoint, DocuWare, d.velop and JobRouter, and a partnership with RIB 4.0 was announced in April 2026. For rollout, Comstruct promises "in days, not months" and "no IT effort on your side", because Comstruct sets up the interfaces itself. The website gives no concrete timeline.

Why companies look for alternatives to Comstruct

With tendering, bid comparison, call-offs, delivery notes and invoice checking, Comstruct covers a large part of the procurement chain. These points usually prompt a comparison:

  • Order confirmations: an order-confirmation check is not described on the website. With building materials in particular, suppliers often change prices, quantities or delivery dates in the confirmation.
  • Payment approval and payment: a payment module, payment approval or a SEPA file is not described on the website.
  • E-invoicing: receiving XRechnung or ZUGFeRD is not described on the website.
  • Integrations: DATEV and Nevaris are not on the integration list.
  • Transparency of the automation: how the 'automatic renegotiation' works and how your own rules are configured is not explained in detail on the website. The AI agents are not described technically.
  • Company size: the references are large general contractors. An offering for small and mid-sized companies is not described on the website.

The alternatives

1. Streckenheld

Streckenheld is an AI platform for construction companies and building-material dealers that covers the chain from RFQ to payment approval. In tendering, ordering, delivery notes and invoice checking it overlaps heavily with Comstruct. The main building blocks:

  • RFQ and award: send a BoQ or bill of materials to several suppliers and subcontractors with deadlines and automatic reminders, receive offers via web form or PDF, compare them in a line-by-line price matrix with AI matching, and use the negotiation co-pilot. Accepting an offer creates a contract. More in the offer comparison guide.
  • GAEB: import of GAEB DA XML (X80–X86), export of X83/X84.
  • Ordering: from catalogs and framework contracts, multi-step approval with spend limits, automatic email to the supplier. Details on the purchase orders page.
  • Document intake: email forwarding, WhatsApp photo, upload and integrations. Text recognition also reads handwriting, site photos and margin notes.
  • Matching: order against confirmation including delivery date and address, confirmation and order against invoice, invoice against delivery notes, plus contract prices, payment terms and early-payment discount. More on the invoice verification page.
  • Payment: multi-step approval, a SEPA file (pain.001) from approved invoices with execution dates that respect the discount deadline, and reminders before discount and due dates.
  • Classification: every line classified automatically into ECLASS product categories and trades.

The website names ERP integrations with BRZ, Nevaris, RIB and PDS. Hosting is in the EU, and customer data is not used for training. Prices are not public; Streckenheld charges per active site plus modules.

Best fit: construction companies that want order-confirmation checks and payment approval in the same platform as tendering and invoice checking, and need to set their own rules flexibly, as well as building-material dealers.

2. Cathago

Berlin-based Cathago's headline is "Bestellt. Geliefert. Geprüft. Mit KI-Software für Bauunternehmen." (Ordered. Delivered. Checked. With AI software for construction companies.) Its ordering module is broad: ordering via app, a construction-site shop, catalogs from Excel to BMEcat, project price lists, and tracking of phone orders and pickups. It adds an automated order-confirmation check, delivery notes via photo AI or EDI/API with a delivery calendar, and a four-way match against price lists and framework contracts with automatic coding. Cathago receives e-invoices as XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, XML or JSON.

Its strengths are a supplier network of more than 4,000 suppliers by its own account, which Cathago connects proactively via EDI/API, and a broad integration list including Nevaris, RIB, BRZ and DATEV. Tendering with a price matrix and payment approval are not described on its website, which is in German. More in the comparison of Cathago alternatives.

Best fit: building and civil engineering firms in DACH, from trades businesses to large companies, for whom ordering on site comes first.

3. Vestigas

Vestigas, based in Munich and founded in 2021 out of a TUM research project, describes itself as an AI supply chain for construction and industry. Its focus is digital delivery notes: structured data via EDI from what it says are more than 1,000 connected suppliers, an AI scan that "learns from corrections", and an offline-capable site app for iOS and Android with a GoBD-compliant signature. It adds concrete testing, contracts and call-offs, a three-way match with configurable tolerances, monitoring of discount deadlines, e-invoices including the Austrian EB-Interface, and Scope 3 CO₂ reporting. Integrations include RIB iTWO, BRZ, Nevaris, SAP and DATEV. Vestigas is free for suppliers.

Tendering and awarding are not described on its website. Order-confirmation upload and AI cost allocation are announced as coming soon.

Best fit: contractors, dealers and plants of any size for whom a large EDI supplier network and a robust site app come first.

When Comstruct is still the right choice

  • You are a large general contractor buying through framework contracts. If most of your purchasing runs through framework contracts and call-offs from site, Comstruct offers exactly that flow, including assigning each delivery note to the matching framework agreement.
  • You want tender and invoice in one data strand. Comstruct connects the enquiry from the BoQ with bid comparison, call-off, delivery note and invoice check. If that is the line you need and you handle confirmations or payments elsewhere, it is a good fit.
  • ESG reporting matters. CO₂ figures, EPDs per material and project, and Power BI reporting are a firm part of the offering.
  • Your system landscape matches. With SAP, RIB (including the RIB 4.0 partnership), Abacus and Sorba, plus an ISO/IEC 27001 badge, Comstruct addresses large companies in Switzerland and Germany. Comstruct sets up the interfaces itself.

Where Streckenheld is different

Comstruct and Streckenheld cover much of the same work: RFQs and bid comparison, ordering from contracts with approval, delivery notes and invoice checking. The differences lie in three areas.

1. Confirmation checks and payment as part of the chain. Streckenheld checks the order confirmation against the order, including delivery date and address, and includes it in the four-way match. After the check come multi-step payment approval, a SEPA file with execution dates that respect the discount deadline, and reminders before discount and due dates, so no early-payment discount is lost. Order-confirmation checks, payment approval with SEPA and these reminders are not described on Comstruct's website.

2. Your own rules as AI instructions. Comstruct states the principle "your rules remain with you"; how rules are set up is not described in detail on its website. In Streckenheld, customer rules such as approval limits, site workflows, ERP terminology, tolerated deviations and supplier-specific identifiers are written as plain-language instructions that the AI follows (the "AI Harness"). Edge cases are added during the typical two-week onboarding. A few examples:

  • A supplier prints its own order or project number on every document. That identifier is set up as a rule and used to group related orders, confirmations, delivery notes and invoices.
  • Matching is not limited to invoice against delivery note: Streckenheld also compares order against confirmation, or any group of orders, confirmations, delivery notes and invoices, for example a collective invoice covering several partial deliveries.
  • Delivery-note numbers printed on the invoice are read and linked to the matching delivery notes, even on handwritten documents.

3. Follow-ups and the delivery calendar. When an invoice has no delivery note yet, or an order has no confirmation yet, Streckenheld chases the supplier automatically. These chasers can be switched on per supplier and also triggered by hand or through the AI assistant. Every document received feeds the site's delivery calendar. You can ask the supplier or carrier to confirm the delivery date with one click or through the AI assistant. When they confirm or correct the date, the answer updates the document, the purchase order and the calendar, so site management plans with more reliable dates. A delivery calendar is not described on Comstruct's website.

Which solution fits depends on how much of the chain you want in one platform and how specific your rules are. If you would like to see Streckenheld with your own documents, book a demo.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Comstruct?

It depends on what you need. If you also want order-confirmation checks, payment approval with a SEPA file and reminders before discount deadlines in the same platform, look at Streckenheld. Cathago offers well-developed site ordering with a four-way match and plans for smaller firms too. Vestigas is strong on digital delivery notes through an EDI supplier network.

How much does Comstruct cost?

Comstruct does not publish prices (as of October 2026). Cathago, Vestigas and Streckenheld do not publish prices either. Streckenheld charges per active site plus modules, and Vestigas is free for suppliers.

Does Comstruct check order confirmations and approve payments?

An order-confirmation check and payment approval are not described on Comstruct's website (as of October 2026). Streckenheld checks the confirmation against the order, including delivery date and address, and creates a SEPA file from approved invoices. According to its website, Cathago also offers an automated confirmation check.

Can Comstruct receive e-invoices such as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD?

Receiving e-invoices is not described on Comstruct's website. Cathago and Vestigas name XRechnung and ZUGFeRD explicitly. Streckenheld reads ZUGFeRD and Factur-X; processing pure XRechnung files is available on request.

Is Comstruct suitable for smaller construction companies?

Comstruct's references are large general contractors and infrastructure companies. A dedicated offering for small and mid-sized companies is not described on its website. Cathago has a plan for trades and small construction firms, and at Vestigas small companies can get started on their own.
