Route Planning and Dispatch for Building Material Retailers

An AI agent bundles open deliveries into routes, checks time windows, weight and pallets, and recommends who drives: your own fleet, a partner carrier or the Streckenheld network.

Planning tomorrow's deliveries still means a whiteboard, a spreadsheet and a lot of phone calls. With Streckenheld, an AI agent bundles your open deliveries into routes and recommends for each one who should drive it. Your dispatchers check the suggestion and dispatch with one click.

Why route planning takes so long in building materials trade

  • Classic route planning software is costly and needs detailed master data that is often missing: vehicle profiles, unloading times, site restrictions.
  • Every delivery has its own constraints: a time window on site, a crane truck for heavy loads, the truck's weight and pallet limits.
  • Your own fleet is not always enough, and asking partner carriers for capacity takes calls and emails.
  • Customers call to ask where their delivery is, because nobody sees the truck between the yard and the site.

How the routing and dispatch agent works

All open deliveries on one board

The Logistics page shows deliveries, map, routes and route details side by side. Every open delivery appears with its address, time window and allocation status, so the dispatcher sees at a glance what still needs a truck.

AI suggestions for routes

One click on Start AI suggestions and the agent bundles the open deliveries into routes. It checks the time windows on site, the truck's capacity in weight and pallets, and where a crane is needed. The routes appear on the map with numbered stops and can be adjusted before anything is dispatched.

A recommendation for every route

For each route the AI recommends who should drive it and explains why, for example leaving at 5:15 to reach the first site in its 6:00 window, or handing a route to a partner because your crane trucks are booked.

Dispatch in one click

The dispatcher chooses the delivery type and allocates the route:

  • Own fleet: choose the vehicle group and the driver.
  • Partner carrier: choose one of your partner carriers.
  • Streckenheld: book an available Streckenheld partner directly, or request offers from several partners and pick the best one.

Comparing prices across providers lowers carrier costs by around 10%.

How routing and dispatch work with Streckenheld

  1. Deliveries come in from your ERP or are created on the Logistics page.
  2. The AI suggests routes for the delivery day, with stops, weights and pallets.
  3. The dispatcher checks the routes on the map and adjusts them where needed.
  4. Each route is allocated to your fleet, a partner carrier or the Streckenheld network.
  5. Drivers deliver with the driver app: navigation to each stop and a digitally signed delivery note.
  6. Customers follow the delivery live, and the signed delivery note is available to everyone involved.

Who it's for

Routing and dispatch is built for building material retailers and builders' merchants who deliver to construction sites with their own trucks, partner carriers or both, and want to plan the next day in minutes instead of hours. Once a delivery is made, re-invoicing takes care of invoicing manufacturer deliveries to your customers.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need detailed master data before we can start?

No. The AI suggests routes from the data your dispatchers already have: delivery addresses, time windows, weights and pallets. Your dispatchers adjust the routes on the map; nothing has to be maintained up front.

Who can a route be dispatched to?

To your own fleet (choose the vehicle group and the driver), to one of your partner carriers, or to the Streckenheld network of building materials carriers, either as a direct booking or by requesting offers from several partners.

What does the AI recommendation for a route contain?

For each suggested route the AI says who should drive it and why, for example your own crane truck because both sites need crane unloading, or a Streckenheld partner because none of your trucks is free that day. The dispatcher decides.

What do our customers see?

Construction firms get live tracking of their delivery and the signed digital delivery note from the driver app.
